The "New Deal for Benue"- Dr.Paul Angya By Okwo Romeon In the core of every man heart lie a genius,most at time,it is not everybody that has the capacity to draw their own out.for those that the gods pour out its benevolent,they soar higher like the Eagles with little or no hard works but for others that rode on part of hard-works their lives is spike by dreams upon dreams. It may seem long from now to 2023 for a non politicians,why for the politicians,2023 is just by the door. And the road to the "People House" the sit of power of Benue state government is keeping the politicians awake all days round. Like it or not,a man without a dream is already a forgotten soul even before he or she finish the last race. The "new deal for Benue"is a dream conceptualised with passion for service and await delivery by a man who vision for his motherland is breaking another levels in Benue politics. As of last count,Benue remain a citadel of academias with professionals siege in every economy department of northern Nigeria and even the whole of the country in the sixty till the date. The Benue Cement company (BCC), the Taraku Mill,Lobi Bank,Otukpo Bricks,Benue Brewery to mention few were child brain of a visionary leader,the late Ape Aku the first civilian governor of the State of a blessed memory which his political blueprints brought a lot the great industries to the state which made many of those great middle class families of the late seventies to eighties. Since that era,Benuelite had lost shepherd of men who have passion for their state, most of the present Corp of politicians that had governed the state in the beginning of the fifth republic are bereft of vision and ideals that would have bring changes to Benue in the last twenty years but a new leaf had been in making since 2019. Dr.Paul Angya,a season technocrat is taking the lead as he resigned his job at the peak of his career in other to pursued his goals of better governance for his people that will eventually lift the face of Benue state again. Dr.Angya is a trained lawyer, a security expert and a scholar. A specialist in standardisations and Consumers Protection laws. He holds a PhD in Law from the University of Jos and Master and Bachelors degrees in Law from Benue State University and University of Lagos, Nigeria. Dr.Angya, was a Director, Corporate Affairs and SON Consults and honorary legal adviser to the African Regional Organisation for Standardisation (ARSO), Nairobi, Kenya as well as honorary legal adviser of the African Eco-Labeling Mechanism (AEM) – An AUC agency dealing with Environmental and Sustainability Standards in Nairobi, Kenya. He was at different times, the secretary to Council of SON, Director Administration and Human Capital Development (DA&HC) / Secretary to SON Council; Director / Secretary / Legal Adviser, Standard Organization of Nigeria SON; and Acting Director Legal /Enforcement Depth., National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB). Dr.Angya, was also responsible for drafting and concluding international (and local) consultancy and inter-agency collaboration agreements including the SONCAP Scheme/Intertek consultancy on SONCAP, SON Yellow pages, technical and collaboration agreements with China, South Africa, Ethiopia, Egypt, Ghana, Congo, DRC, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Uganda, BSI/Incomme Group, Institute of Analyst of Nigeria, Nigerian copy Right Commission, Nigerian Institute of welding among others. Dr. Paul Angya is a versatile,visionary and strategic leader who has a deep understanding of National development with a clear vision on what it take to made Benue state great again. Unveiling his dreams in a parley with league of Benue journalists in Abuja,Dr.Angya believed,he had the capacity to turn around the enormous resources of Benue state into a of mega of industries. He say, "having transverse every local government areas of the state,a lot of opportunities are bound in the state and it will only need a visionary leader to made things work again if Benue state must remain in the space of developments just like other states in the country. Asked if he had gotten the blessings of the incumbent governor to get the party ticket by 2023, Dr.Angya say" he is a believer and had always been looking up to God all his life but think as it stand,if the zoning of the governorship to zone A is maintained with his local government of Vandeika been the destination,he remains optimistic being the next candidate . But he say "he is also ready to give his support to any body who will emerged the People Democratic Party (PDP) candidate as he will be glad to be sportsman in politics. Dr. Angya is not a kid on the blogs ,he is married to one of the successful Vice Chancellor,Professor Charity Angya (OON) former VC of Benue State University whose b tenure witness the tremendous developments than any state University in the country.
