                            By Romeon Okwo

Justice Akon Ikpeme is substantive Chief Judge of Cross River State, she had spend the last 30 year s of profession working in the state. She is married to Etu  Efik tribe of  crosses River state while she hail from Akwa Ibom state.
The refusal of the state Assembly to confirm her nomination had being pin on many prefix-:

Some people are of the option that, the quest by Governor Ben Ayade to make his brother the next Chief Judge of Cross River State  most had fuel these rejection by the majority of the Assembly members.while the house are of the side of "Security threat to the because of her origin.

What are the criteria, the qualifications to become a State chief Judge? What does the constitution  say? Is it possible that a woman  that is married to an Efik man for more than 20 years is said not to be from Cross River State? I mean, a woman that worked in the Cross River State Civil Service for more than 30 years? If She is a security risks, what are those Ayade appointees from Akwa Ibom and other States doing in Cross River State government some people from the Southern Efik majority are crying out.
Going by the any country constitution and tradition,a married woman automatic is automatic citizen of that area but here is politics are play.

The rejection of Justice Akon Ikpeme from becoming substantive Chief Judge by  Ben Ayade-controlled House of Assembly is one of the series of events  that  had unleashed on Southern Cross River State against the governor as the members of the Ayade Cabinet are also threaten to recalled opposed loyalist who are head-bend on the State Assembly stand, the events are just unfolding.

Already some party loyalist of the governor are angry with just conclud local government party primary across the state but political analyst pined all these ahead of 2023.
