Dr. Ibrahim Waziri Emphasizes why the northeast should occupy Aso Rock by Okwo Romeon

Dr. Ibrahim Waziri is not a newcomer to the Nigerian political scene, a former Presidential and gubernatorial aspirant and currently, the National Chairman and Conniver of the National Movement for Peace and Dialogue have called on the people of the Northeast region to come together as one people to realize the political ambition of the region to produce a sitting President for the first time since the return of the country to civilian rule in 1999. According to Dr, Waziri, “from Nigeria's history, no person for the Northeastern state has occupied the number one seat even with the numerical political strength of the region's right from the era of the Sir Tafawa Belewa the first Prime Minister who only acted as a ceremonial head of the government during the day of Nigeria independent. He says the only time the region stands a better chance is now, and it will be a grievous mistake for the people not to unite and stand behind the presidential ambition of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who is favored above all the other candidates in this particular time to win the forthcoming election. speaking with journalists at weekends, the political economist turned politician decried former President Olusegun Obasanjo in his massive letter to Nigerians which the Ogun-born leader had urged Nigerian youths to vote against Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the PDP Presidential candidate as the personal right of Obasanjo but think, the issuance of such letter against his former vice president is not a fair play by the former president as “him” Obasanjo was never fair to his vice president Atiku given all what transpired between the duo when they were in government. According to Dr. Ibrahim, quoting the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Ahmed Bola Tinubu's comment during his campaign rally published in one of the National dailies, say “ I Won’t Fight Shettima Like Obasanjo Fought Atiku” means “him” Olusegun Obasanjo never gave Alhaji Atiku fair chance to play his role as vice president very well while they were in office, and he believes, that what was led to the different acrimony among the two leaders. Dr. Ibrahim wants Nigerians to beware of the elites traps of such characters of the former president which had made the country to remain without progress for past decades and urges his kinsmen from the northeast to unite and vote for Atiku Abubakar which He believes will reunite the country back from the chaos of insecurity and others economy harpy it is facing now. He says, the election will come and go and Nigeria will remain, so, politicians should mind their utterances, especially in a very tense time like the 2023 elections which the fiber of trust among Nigerians is so tiny because of the perceived nepotistic deposition of the government by Nigerians. Dr. Ibrahim Waziri believes the country is going through a trying moment and hope the nation will overcome this period. He says, Nigeria is not isolated from the rest of the world but they is a need for a good and focused leader and Atiku Presidency will revise this trend because the Waziri Adamawa is somebody who is love across the country for his open door policy. Dr. Ibrahim called for the enthronement of a theory he code “democracy globalism” a system of self-styled governance suitable to a particular people,he says if the theory is best practices , it will enable the six regions to determine if they want to be a member of Nigeria federation or not. he believes, in democratic Globalism, citizens and sub-regions have the right to choose what type of government that will best suit them and not necessarily hold up the Greek type of democracy which had fails to address Africa and particularly Nigeria's heterogeneous societies . He said the lingering crises in Africa were caused by the nonsensitive of the colonial masters to recognize the peculiar nature of the tribes that make up African communities before amalgamation into the different countries and hence they need to resist the dominance of a particular tribe against each other, they are bound to be crisis till they are true constitutional reform with the rule of laws that will guarantee the confidentiality of every tribe. The Bauchi-born scholar is among is few northern Nigerians who have to held on to the belief that, Nigeria is more than a just one country and they is a need for a national referendum that will determine if the country will remain one or not as he queried why the former head of state , General Yakubu Gowon for going to war with Biafra and say, it was the great mistake of the country then. Dr. Waziri believes Atiku Presidency will restructure the federation and give a sense of belonging to every region of the country and not stop the agitation for a breakaway by some regions hence he had promised Nigerians to rewrite the wrongs of the past which is a true hallmark of a nationalist. According to Dr. Ibrahim, the country is blessed with everything you can think of on earth if the leaders are good, nobody or no Nigerians should be faced with what the country is currently going through with ninety-five percent of her citizens living below the poverty index, wanton killings of helpless Nigerians, highest inflation rate ever and a dwelling spirit of citizens on her country. Dr. Ibrahim wants all citizens to support INEC Chairman Prof Yakubu Mohammed's efforts to legacy by conducting fair and transparent elections come February this year.
