Voting with Patriotism ,do Nigerians still trust the politicians?? by Okwo Romeon.
Our country, "Nigeria," is at a crossroads, and whatever we can do as people to salvage the situation will not be too much a sacrifice. From community leaders to our politicians and all citizens of this country, the clarion call is now, as people they is the need to comes out e-mass if the yarning for the change we all desired as citizens of this great country must been achieved by all especially as we turn another leaf in the coming general elections .
(Right now,the politicians are in the forefront of the calls when most of them has paid very high to get their political parties nominations forms)
The worries now should not be the cash crunch ,fuel scarcity or the incessant killings across the nation even as ugly and horrific as they are,the worry now should be what set and kind of politicians heeding the calls to-be returns to office .It is not because, the current political class who threw their hats into the contest are not qualified, but Nigerians are afraid of what would still be their political outcome if some of them are still returned to office.
Available records of most of them have shown that, most of them are corrupt-minded persons in their previous office as the indictment by the economic financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has shown and it is mind-boggling if one gets to know the enormity of wealth most of them have when they can purchase nomination forms of their party as high as a hundred million naira in a chicken change manners
Over the years, some of them have white-washed their image by venture of the different offices occupied by them while some have relaunch their stolen wealth into politics and create a nice impression of successful technocrats in their careers,
What we seen is a smart maurovering on Nigerians. From religious leaders to political leaders, the Robbin Cooks scenario is in reverse to enrich their empires
Maybe,it is the reasons why Nigerian General Oversteer (G.O.) will build a university with help of the member funds but the children of the church members cannot attend the schools. Maybe it is the reasons ,elected politicians are paid a hundred times more than the selfless civil servants. It is also the reason, professors and other academicians leave classes and research institutions to be a common errand assistance to politicians rather than take pride in their field.
In Nigeria today, the list of societal decadence continue to grow by the day. No matter how religious a Nigerian wears his or her looks, the other side of her looks is the prolonged abnormalities he or she has been groomed to accept .
Most of our motorists display these oddities on our road,it is also the undocumented standard of our security agencies ,and even the so-called men of God operate most at time with these abnormalities.
Sometime ago, a General Overseer (G.O) of one of the country's largest churches was quoted by a national daily saying "the office of our presidency was too low for him to aspire to." And rated the Presidency of his church above the nation sit of power.
According to the report,He preferred to be president of his churches.Worldwide, than given the Presidency of Nigeria.and that "becoming President of his country is a demotion to his personality."
But the G.O has also forgotten that,it was the political stability provided by previous political leaders that allowed him to soar so high all those years ago when he began his gospel journey.
If not for the political sacrifice laid by patriotic fellows, there would be no country called Nigeria today.and only Allah knew if his vision of mega enterprises in the name of God would have stand.I wonder what would have become of the country today if those leaders were afraid of taking such measures and felt too proud to steer the affairs of the nation through their participation in politics.
Most of us has lost patriotism because of our wealth. Where is it written that the priest is greater than the shirine? not even in the nation of Israel, where our Christianity is modeled after.
We know that Christianity didn't preach religion in such a way. Most of the politicians have not given us the desired leadership, but Nigerians can not also get the alternative from some clergymen.
During the political party’s expression of Interest (EOI) era we saw Pastor Tunde Bakare, a vocal man of God and G.O of the Later Rain Assembly, a multi-million-packed church with his operation head office in Lagos, picks the presidential form with about a hundred millions Naira,Many questions have been asked. If Bakare can pay for a nomination form for as high as amount , why has he not impacted positively on the well-being of some of his church members who are living below the poverty benchmark of a dollar a day?
Like the pastor, this kind of action explains the kind of leaders Nigerians has been beleaguered with,Many of our-so-called leaders will do anything to get to political office, they preferred to paid more from their pockets to been in the office so they can recoup more from their investments rather than help the poorest Nigerians. A sensible fellow who real want to serves his people’s will never allow himself to part away with such money. It is a typical irony of taking from the poorest to keep their empires.
While the Ukrainians will travel from afar to defend their country, it will be difficult for the citizens of this country to do the same when the need arises because the way Nigeria is now, there is no social contact between Nigerians the government.people are just caged to be governed by few persons called government system.
Most people have lost hope in the country, where most Nigerians in the Northeast and North Central would prefer to provide security intelligence to aggressors than the government security agencies, showing the level of decadence the country has found itself
As we continue to play along with the ethnic sediment as a nation, the prospect ahead will consume all of us one day. Until it is completely accepted that Nigeria belongs to us and no particular tribe should dictate the political direction of this country more than the others, the opposite of the robbing cooks philosophy of robbing the poor to pay the rich will continue.
In less than two week time Nigerians will be heading to the general elections, politicians have up their game again like in 1979 general elections.would the actors allow the citizens to elect their leaders in fair and acceptable manners is a question that the answer will either make or mar the nation.
It is no longer a myth that our country may be sitting on a time-boom,now the signs are obvious ,there is cracks eventually in all the strata of the fibers that had kept us as one nation.
Nigeria has been becomes ungoverned spaces with all kinds of infiltrators posing in different names.as of last count, over four various groups has been identified, this includes bandits in Northwest,Unknown gum men in Southeast’s,killers herder in the North-central, Iswap/ Boko Ham in Northeast ,Niger Delta Militants in South South and the Egbeso soldiers at Southwest. The security agencies efforts In repelling the activities of these scrupulous elements have been resisted with strong defenses by the rebels which had led to most of our security personnel’s paying the supreme pride with their life.
Nigerians must remember that the three front runners in the coming elections are all Nigerians first before belonging to their regions, tribes or religion, so the major question on each voters minds should be do we save Nigeria first or our tribe or region, looking at the ruptures in every critical sector of our nation.
Across, the globe,a time like this in the circle of every country begate new set of leaders, I can say this is Nigerians turn to chose her kind of leaders ,what we do with this opportunity will reflect the kind of patriotism we all have for this country in a long time to come.
