I don't want to agree with the saying that “as things change, they remain the same” because change itself is constant.
But Placing the Nigeria ways of our leaders, especially our dear land of Igede nation, that rhetoric may not be far away from the fact.
It is like a recurring decimal, if not, how can one explain the retrogressive development that comes with every new leadership in our land as long as political office is concerned.?
What we hear in every terminal election is,”a new songs of hope,” a liberation songs that never moved us out of our river of Babylon. My people are cajoled with all sort of lies. At time, we had been blindfolded to believed, we been hindered by spiritualism and our land is cursed, and that our lands needs healing. We seen all kinds of prophets with their balms of anointing oil into our lands but has the story change?
A simply logic would have help us understand as people that , they are no spirit anywhere, our biggest obstacle over the time are the kind of political leaders we had elected to represent us or even sometime “we” the people are the obstacles and a step to their misgovern

Igede land is not different from any others places but her political leaders has not show compassion enough to pursue developmental projects for the benefit of all. Some of them even sacrifices their ineptitude in vision and pragmatism to political humility.
Not even the zoning of the political offices among the zones to balance power and bring fair competition had help any better when compared developments to our neighbors.
As one drives across Igede lands, the pictures on the way bring so many thoughts to one mind.,questions upon questions strike one mind.
How comes a local government area that had be created for over forty year can not boss of a tared road of ten kilometres?, Is there no single allocation to the two local government over the last two decade?, how comes the representatives to the state and the federal parliament are not worry about this and what are the pleasure groups from this area doing? Do we even have pressure groups, where is their voices? ,and how is my people enjoying this suffering and still keeping silent?
I also wonder what my constituent, the media houses from this area has been reporting over the years,,what do the journalist from here report about? how comes, we have not been able to winced the state government attention within our jurisprudence to the challenges facing us a people?
For me, this is purely negligence on our side as we have relegate in our various responsibilities to hold our leaders accountable..
According to the former prime minister of United Kingdom,,Gordon, Brown in one of his write up he say, “Those who try to build the present in the image of the past are finding themselves wholly ill-equipped to meet the challenges of the future” this is absolutely true, our representatives must desist from the old mentality, Igede lands is not like before again, they is a new awareness building up and the quest to see real developments and true leadership is also high now.
Leaders should not pacified us with the make-believe style of leadership again after the twelve years of leadership stagnation the last Representative gave to us.
Our population is not much, a common economic strategy envisage by a good leader would have ease the chunks of the poverty mallards been face by our people unfortunately our political class lacked in their heads to think in this direction .
Leadership should not all be about money money as been prescribed by our leaders in Igedeland though it is important.
Our leaders should employed strategic vision that encompasses a holistic developments across the lands which can place us at a competitive advantage above our neighbors.
Luckily Igede nation is blessed with great and erudite scholars across all the needed discipline of humans endeavors, how the politicians enanage these son and daughter is another thing that must be thought out by the political representatives.
If our Honorable, brother David Ogewu can organize a fun fair and bring those that matter in this country to Igede in last Igede Agba festival even as most of us are yet to understand the economy thinking beyond such a flamboyant jamboree ,I think, having our best heads on a around table to draw a developments plans and vision for our people wouldn't be a problem to him and the current political leadership of our land.
Honestly the truth must be told, our politicians must be look in the eye and tell truth to power.
Over the years, most of them had only represented themselves and their children, either you are a former chairman, a former commissioner, a state House member, House of Representatives or Special Advisers etc, the sorrow state of Igede lands showed that, most of you have done nothing. Absolutely they is nothing to show over the past four decades of Oju local government creation and the last twenty years of Obi existence.
It is better you all buried your heads in shame than calling yourself a former this or or former that whenever some of you appear before our gathering.
While, I should applaud the effort of Honorable David Ogewu, it is very important also to let him know , it is not yet uhuru as many of us have started shouting the praises to higher places already over the flanking-off construction of Oju-Iyahe road project.
Such attitudes of some of the followers is timid and it is an obstruction on the part of our Honorable to remain focus.
As I pep into the mind of Honorable David Ogewu, his vision for Igede is more than just bringing road construction or rehabilitation even though this are the immediate needs of our people for now, we all need to support him with a better criticism to put him on his toe to do better.
Igede name is a brand both in the state and across Nigeria for the raw integrity of it's people and we need leader that can sell these brand to the world.
The Oju -Yahe road is very significant road to Igede land and even to our brothers in Cross river state.this is not the first time we see politicians rolling out bulldozers to clear the roads, even in the Road Record Gazette (RRG) of the federal Ministry of works in Abuja, the road is reported be completed.
So what Hon.Ogewu need to do this time around, is used his wide reach network to make sure, those fraudulent contractors using the name of the road to enrich themselves either from Benue or any part of the country are stop this time around and see the project to completion.
The road had be captured in the federal government road Sukku bonds,it is a stretch of many Kilometres roads across different towns and villages before it reach Igede land. The project so far had been stop at Oweto bridge,
The newly constructed second river Benue bridge in Agatu local government area of Benue state.it is not going to be easy to influence such huge projects by our singular Honorable but we all pray for Hon. Ogewu to pull the string and bring us real good road.
Hon David Ogewu need to talk to his namesake Dr III David Omahi the Minister of work to also hint him the importance of this road with his people in Eboonyi state which they are our closer neighbor after Iyahe in Yala local government of Cross river state.
I’ believe the Honorable minister will not play down the construction because he understands commercial important of the road to Abakalike the Ebonyi state capital.
For now, I don't want to join the praises -singers in shouting Hon, David Ogwu is different from the others politicians till I can drive from Oju main to Odalako or to Obegede on tared road or I will follow Oturkpo to Apiriku or Itakpa in Obi- Ito without red dust if not nothing has actually changed to me.
