Minister Ata Calls for APC Unity in Kano Gubernatorial Ticket by Okwo romeon
The Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, has appealed to his party, APC, to adopt a unity and inclusive approach in selecting a viable candidate for the gubernatorial ticket in Kano State. This call was made during the 23rd anniversary ceremony of MaiTaimako Organisation, an outfit named after his Chief of Staff, Hon. Salisu Ahmed Gwangwazo.
Personal Prerogative of Choice
Ata clarified that his recent comments endorsing Deputy Senate President, DSP Barau Jibrin, as his preferred nominee for the gubernatorial ticket were based on his personal and moral convictions, rather than collective party endorsements. He emphasized that his statement was a personal prerogative of choice, which was misinterpreted by many as a general party endorsement.
Empowering the Youth
During the event, Ata praised his Chief of Staff, Hon. Salisu Ahmed Gwangwazo, for distributing 18 motorcycles to beneficiaries as part of the Mai Taimako Empowerment Initiatives. The Chief of Staff expressed his happiness with the turnout, saying the empowerment program was a long-established concept aimed at supporting youth and those in need.
Notable Attendees
Notable personalities honoured with awards included former APC national chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, APC's State Chairman, Alherinsa Abdullahi Abbas, and DSP Barau Jibrin. The event was well-attended and marked a significant moment in the lead-up to the gubernatorial elections in Kano State.
Call for Unity
Minister Ata's call for unity and inclusiveness in the selection of the gubernatorial candidate is seen as a positive step towards strengthening the party and ensuring a successful election outcome. The APC has been facing internal challenges in recent times, and Ata's appeal is expected to promote cohesion and cooperation within the party.
