The former  Provost of the Missionary College of Education Waka Biu in Borno state and lecturer  in  Department of Banking and Finance, Faculty of Management Sciences, University of Maiduguri Dr  Mohammed Alhaji Audu and Dr Hauwa Aliyu Yamta of both Faculty had been promoted by University of Maiduguri to a position of Associate professor in Finance.


 Associate Professor Mohammed Alhaji Audu and  Associate Professor Hauwa Aliyu Yamta who are  currently lecturing in the Department of Banking and Finance of the University  are  season academic administrators with cutting edge  experience in and outside the citadel of the university.


Associate Professor Mohammed Alhaji Audu was a past Provost of College of Education Waka Biu  whose tenure in the College of Education Waka led to the school accreditation of many courses and massive infrastructure buildings by the  Tertiary Educational Tax Funds (TETFUD) in the cold plateau of Biu Local government Area of southern Borno State. 


Their  promotion to the position of Association Professor of Finance  by the Governing Council of University of Maiduguri was approved with effect from October first 2020 and  ratified by the meeting on Wednesday 14th August, 2024 at the Council chamber of the University of Senate.


Both Associate Professor Audu and Yamta were present at the annual maiden edition of the Abuja Capital Market operators held at the Security and Exchange Commission Auditorium in Abuja  Nigeria  where stakeholders and experts  in Financial and Banking sector across the country ivy Towers were drawn together by organizers of the  Capitals market in Nigeria to deliberate on the way forward for crypto currency security in Nigeria capital market a month ago.


In chat with newsmen, Prof, Audu had  admitted that, the future of crypto currency in the country is bright but they is a need to put in place necessary securities checks by regulators that will secure the confidence of investors and guarantee smooth operations which is what the workshop had deliberated on.


Asked if Borno state is open for such investment, Prof Audu agreed,saying, University of Maiduguri is one of the leading Tertiary University in the country with robust financial academic Professors and as you can  see, am here with my senior colleagues Professor which should tell you, Maiduguri and especially Borno state is the hub of good investment despite our challenges.


The  program drew representatives from the Organized private sector,Academia, Students and representatives of the Minister of Finance and coordinating economic Mr Wale Edu. 


University of Maiduguri over the time had groomed several financial experts among them is the current Vice President of Nigeria his Excellency , Dr  Ibrahim Shittima  who is top notch in banker .
