The Chartered Institute of Project Managers of Nigeria (CIPMN) has commended the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) for its ongoing reforms and digital transformation initiatives, describing them as critical steps towards improving transparency, accountability and efficiency in Nigeria's public procurement system.
The Institute also called for stronger collaboration among government institutions, project managers, contractors and other stakeholders to improve project delivery, strengthen domestic value chains, create employment opportunities and accelerate national development.

The commendation was made during an event organised by the Institute, where newly inducted members were urged to uphold professional standards and deploy their expertise towards sustainable national development.
Speaking at the occasion, the Registrar-General and Chief Executive Officer of CIPMN, Mr. Henry Ifeanyi Mbadiwe, praised the leadership of the Bureau of Public Procurement for introducing reforms designed to modernise public procurement administration and strengthen institutional accountability.
Mbadiwe particularly applauded the Bureau's commitment to digital transformation, noting that technology-driven procurement processes would enhance transparency, reduce administrative bottlenecks and promote greater efficiency in the management of public resources.
He also highlighted the Institute's own digital transformation drive, particularly the automation of membership registration, professional examinations, licensing and verification processes.
According to him, the initiatives have significantly improved the efficiency, credibility and transparency of the Institute's professional administration.
The CIPMN Registrar-General further drew attention to the Institute's electronic verification system and the integration of its Application Programming Interface (API), which allows organisations and other relevant stakeholders to authenticate the professional status and licensing credentials of project managers.
He explained that the system would strengthen confidence in the profession, discourage misrepresentation and ensure that organisations engage qualified and properly licensed project management professionals.
The development, he noted, represents an important step towards institutionalising professionalism, credibility and accountability in Nigeria's project management sector.
The Institute maintained that effective project management remains indispensable to the successful implementation of government policies, infrastructure projects and development programmes.
It therefore urged newly inducted members to see their professional certification not merely as an achievement but as a responsibility to contribute meaningfully to national development through competence, integrity, innovation and excellence.
The event underscored the growing importance of professional project management and technology-driven institutional reforms in building a transparent, efficient and development-oriented public sector.
