When will PDP rewards South East?

When will PDP reward South East?? By okwo Romeon. The outcomes of the people Democrate Party (PDP) Zoning Committee headed by Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state some weeks ago makes public the commitee decisions to throw open the candiadiacy of its presidential flag-bearer, so, all its aspirants who has expressed desire to contest the presidential elections under its party can freely do so while the option also give room for party delegates to elect their choice of candidate as the party flag- bearer in an open contest. Although many reactions have since gripped the party position, even as the National Working Committee of the party (NEC) which is the Supreme hierarchy of the party is yet to be fully brief to ratify the Committee position so far, mist feelings have been noticed among some members of the party while others have seen the developments as the right thing to do if the party still have the desire to upset the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC ) from power come 2023. Majorities of the people from the South East region felt the Committee report was orchestrated to deny the region the opportunity to present its first-party presidential candidate come 2023 from the region as the region remains the only zone from the Southern part of the country which has not produced the president based on PDP zoning formulas as stated in the party Constitution. While the report was supposed to mend the divisiveness that already characterized the party, the report once again is opening up another chapter of acrimony that may trail its coming presidential convention. feelers coming from the southeastern region of the country have already accused the Ortom-led Committee of playing the script of some influential northern personalities to deny the southeast of the party presidential candidate come 2023. I have been a strong apologist of the people's Democratic Party, not for its sluggish pond of corruption but on how it treats perception against its never-have -idealogy called zoning which the party uses as its unique selling point whenever it wants galvanized support for its coming back to Aso Rock. While, it is true and still debated that, they is no morality in Nigerian politics as it has been practiced over the decades, Sharing formula which has been the beam of our political parties should have been done in good faith to appeal to the consciousness of all it's jobbers. The South Eastern region of the country has been a stronghold of PDP since its inception with barely all of its governors-elect being on the platform of the party. we saw the region's political alignment in the last general elections even when other regions abandon the PDP, it was the southeast and its neighbors the Southern States that still keep the hope of the party.so if all these narrations and many more had pointed to the faithfulness of the southeast to PDP, why is PDP is playing the ethics card of zoning its presidential ticket to the region, is it that some people in the party still believe, Igbos have not repented enough to lead the country fifty years after the Civil War? A country with a similar problem like Nigeria makes deliberate policy that unites its people but that cannot be said of Nigeria since the civil war. It is not a far fetch fact that Nigeria is sinking the way it is going, with every part of the country having its security challenges, it is only fair that the power makers of PDP reflect on this and give their party ticket to the region. If PDP can not pay Southeast for all its support, one will only hope when such opportunities will present themselves.
