How.Nigerian political leaders dismistify her citizens even in death By Okwo romeon.

Over the weekend, the central Northern state of Benue was in a pool of shock, the blood bath was on the road, market square and even the peace grave yard roared  as Yelwata a farming settlement along the Nasarawa Benue border invaded my arm malliriats killing over 200 harmless IDP who were relocated to their presence abode because of a constant attack by suspected herders.

Victims of Yelwata in Benue

It would be interesting to know that, Yelwata is a border post between Nasarawa and Benue State which houses several army and police checks points and a  Mobile base of about 30  km  from the town where the incident occurred but surprisingly there was no counter from all the base.

Surprisingly, the governor of the state Rev Father Hyacinth Alias had kept defending her failure and even denying the number of persons killed even when the names had been documented by ngo and civil society who had gone ahead before the government officials to provide aids.

There is something the government is not telling the people of the state and the country at large, one thinks by the relocation of the chief of Army staff ( COAS) lieutenant General Olufemi  Oluyede to Makurdi just two weeks ago ,the security architect of the state would have been fortified but revised is the case, as the general departures had brought the worse attack the people have ever known.

At commissioning of the Abuja water project in Abuja a day after the gore incident, the President, Chief Bola Tinubu GCFR was gotten unguarded, thanks to a Nigerian who deem it fit to alert the MC  with a whispered to remember the usual one minutes silent for the death.luckyly when the President took the podium, the realization was done on him and he has to make it up, by saying he is skipping his schedule visit to Kaduna and would visit Benue State graveyard to see things by himself.

Since the coming of APC in 2015, the Nigeria state had been in terror, over hundreds of persons die every month across the states and what the government does is to offer a statement like, "we shall fish out the perpetrators"  and the Arms forces  endless promises to end the attack continue to hip up without a single prosecution.

The country parliament ,which is supposed to be the people's consciousness had become a toothless bully dog, its only bite is condemnation and rising for "a one  minute silent" any time such a matter of urgency is presented before them. As I write, a long list of Adhoc committees testify to such incidents are paling up which will never see the light of the day or its  report  ever  concluded.

The main purpose of governance is defeated and as the government of the day continues to tighten the civic space ,most ngo and civil groups have continued to retreat in their actions as the fear of arrest and dention pervert and loom.

As  President visits Benue ,few persons are not sure if the President will depart away from the tradition of his predecessor, former president Mohammed Buhari who had rather called for dialogue with the killers herdsmen  than finding a lasting solution. If President Tinubu visit will yield so much it is another hope the people await.

The insecurity in the country is not far from over soon if the right political solution is not sorted as others years of experience had shown that Nigerian politicians do politics with bloodshed to grab political power.

From Maiduguri to Minna Iorin to Benue  even Enugu state ,the gulf of the Nigeria state is breeding of blood and the leaders at the difference tiers are grossly engulfed in the politics of 2027 than buried the death in peace .

Nigerians await the outcome of the presidency visit to Benue and also other places to see if security can be restored back to their communities so that  IDPs can go back to home.
