Igede Agba is here again, the finest moment bestow by our forefathers,a brotherhood of a sacred heart, a legacy to the Agba’s, the soul of our ancestors, the minds of our departed souls and the history of our civilization greatly immense in our cultural heritage.

Come September the first market day of Ihigile the very sacred day in the calendar of the Agba's kingdom, the Igede nation’s with his brothers of Bekwarra,Obudu, Mbube and the rest all in Cross River State will simultaneously be ushering the ‘’the Agba’s New Yam Festival’’ in their respective Communities.
The New yam Festival which had being celebrated over seven decades is increasing gaining popularity among others tribes in and outside the shore of the country,as the festival is gradually being copied by others Ethics group in the country.
Nowadays,you seen those tribes organizing their version of the new yam’s festival in their different communities, either in their ancestral home or where most of these people reside.

Many Questions had been asked about the significant of the Igede Agba festival. Igede Agba’s, like any other tradition is prominence with the Igede peoples, just like the Eyo festival is with the aworis tribes of Lagos State,it bring to presence the importance and lessons associated with yam farming with the Igede tribe.
Yam as the " chief crop" among the other root crops is farm across the lands and yam is reverence as the most important crop because of it's uniqueness to the people.
In those days,the side of a farmer yams bank is used as one of the benchmark to be given a traditional tittles especially any farmers who distinguished himself with bounties harvest of the year.
The Igede Agba festival is the melting points for the "Igede’s’’ as the period epitomized the rich rituals rites of the people.it also provide a platform for the people to appeal the gods of their land for another planting season as well usher in the eating of the "new yam’’across the lands,the people uses the period also to seek divine God guidance upon her lands,protections of households,blessings for gods upon the farm lands,and invoke the gods of the land for the "new farming season’’ which is one among the many purposes of the Igede Agba.
It is forbidding for the peoples to bring ‘new yam’’ to the Market squares or eating of a new yam by household in a public manners if the gods are not appeal by the chief priest in each of the community,such an act is a taboo in the land before the commencement of the Agba Festival.
The growing pace of western religions among the locales is intruding the practice of Igede Agba celebrations these day's as most of the faithful-so-converts now seen the festival as a fetish celebration.
While the debate with the western faithfuls will be a continuous trend,Igede Agba's is a traditional heritage that cannot easily been limps by western doctrine.The beauty of the festivities weight every year with different new innovations from the younger ones who have promoted the festival across their space with the social media.

As I welcome all our brothers,sisters and their friends back home for this August occasion come September the first,I want to specially dedicate this year occasion to his Excellency, the admirable, humble, the ever-first true –face- governor of our beloved State of Benue State, the God-sent servant and the General Commander and Defender of the Benue valley,Dr Samuel Ortom,The Chief Executive Governor of Benue State.
Your Excellency, you deserved this special dedication and invitation, been our number one father of the state and as a Governor who in just short time demonstrate the mark of Benue trinity of inclusions, in your colors,characters of equity toward all the tribes of the state.I m terrible confidence you deserve a better praise than these but Sir I lack word for now

Sir,I believed,you deserved my invitation because your presence in Igede land’s this time around for the second time or there about after the last general elections will be a boost the Agba Carnival,it will boost our locals investors confidence and attract more sponsors both within and outside the state which will go far in boosting the tourism sectors abound in the state thereby increase the IGRs of our dear state.
Your Excellency, your presence will also enable you appraised our situations again in relaxed atmosphere and it will help you appraised,how the parts of the state with a finest human potentials had been neglected in infrastructure developments for the past decades by previous governors for no faults of the people but neglect from past administrations and a senator who represented them for twenty years without even a common bore hole water for the people,a mystery the people cannot explain up to date.
Sir, I don’t know where you may choose to drive through to the heart of our mother land of Oju or Obi local government area but which ever road you may choose to go through and have this few hours holiday with your people please Sir, if you are in Obi, and you happen to forget your Swan or Ragoli water Can in the car, kindly take a walk around from your host compound and ask the locals for water. It may interest you Sir,
Your Excellency,may be, you will want to see the sick’s who you will want to celebrate with that day as it has always been your humble ways relating with the poor’s in occasion like this, again ask the locals the nearest available government clinic or hospital, it may amazed you.
As you come down to Oju, Sir, it may interest you to know that, the Oju-Alade Road that was completed three times by the past administrator on papers before you rewarded the road in your first term is still a long work in progress as the Contractors are not doing enough to met up with the set-dateline you assure the people of in your last visit.
it will also interested you to know that, the Oju-Yala Ogoja Federal Road that will cut the distance drive between Benue to Calabar with Ogoja in Cross River State by four hours if constructed and make Oju a business hub for south-South travelers who may wish to bye- pass the long Ogoja-Ikom Vandikiya road and follow Oju to link the new constructed world bank double lanes project in Fom-1 in Okela in Yala local government area of Cross river state,just a twenty minute drive from Oju town to link this road. The construction of this road would have created more economies activities within Oju and Obi towns serving as the only federal presence across Igede land’s need your intervention,the people are counting on you to draw the attention of the presidency to this abandoned project.
Sir,this road had being awarded over the last four decades and it has being completed twice in the bulletin of the Federal ministry of works and Housing during the administration of President Olesegun Obasanjo but Sir, they is no form of any work on the road in the last twenty years.
Your Excellency, it will amaze you as you interact and find out the more about these project .
As you spend these little time with us, I want to your welcome Excellency to the door step of our first ‘’Ada Igede’’ His Royal Imperial Majestic Adarahu Ero ------------- the (first) the ever first king of Igede in the new era which yourself officially approved after a long yearning of the Igede peoples which you personally spear-headed the Bill in the Benue state assembly and urged members to accelerate the bill for your passage after several set back by the previous House. Sir, as people, we all understand the situation of the state due to the down-turn of the economy, Igede tribe are patient people as can been seen in our integrity, honesty hard-work and our tenacity for service any where we are fine, we believed, as you go back to Makurdi, you will think and remember to haste up to put a roof over our Royal father with not just a palace but an admirable one meant for a king you cheery so much.
