Dramas from Africa ‘s largest democracy by okwo romeon

It is Saturday morning, probably the end of April 2022, and about 155 days to the general election of the most populous black nation in the world. The local radio stations have been my favorites, not because they have good content, but as a young promising columnist I had promised to be, I usually listened each time to get my daily opinion, which I used most times to sum up my views in the early hours of every morning across the different radio platforms.
As divisive as some of the opinions were, they gave a clear picture of what average voters in this part of the world think about their political leaders. Most Nigerians are obsessed with various types of sediments, ranging from religion to ethnicity, regional bigotry, and even making the right decisions regarding their political rights. It is like some Nigerians have lost their political history or cannot even store any. The worse is that, we have lost empathy, humanity and clear conscience, and like a joke or climax of tragedy in thematic prose, we are watching with open eyes how our nationhood is slowly sinking into the abyss with all manners of political deficiency deliberately being played by our so-called political elites. In about 24 days from now, the political parties will be hosting their national convention in which delegates will be electing their party's flag bearer. Both the ruling party, the All Progress Congress (APC), and the main opposition, the People's Democracy Party (PDP), have begun the screening of members who have purchased expression of interest (EOI) forms for the various elective positions. These politicians across the parties have taken their political consultation to the different regions of the country by visiting traditional rulers of the different ethnic groups to sell their political reasons why they should get elected. In the ruling party, President Mohammadu Buhari has been the chief host as many of his party lieutenants have turned the Aso Villa into an announcement ground where they tell millions of Nigerian voters of their intentions. While the President played the ostrich of giving his node to all his visitors, "him," the President had made it clear some weeks back that he already knew his successor. The lack of disclosure of the President's intention has elevated the political space the more as many of the presidential hopefuls keep increasing by the day as aspirants despite the jumbo cost of the nomination form to join the race, But, the funny joke is that the politicians are too blindfolded to read the clear mind of Mr.President as political parties rake billions of naira into their coffers. Why the rush to obtain such form at such an exorbitant price even when some of them knew, they will not make it through the primary of their parties is the drama Nigerians wait to see.
The nation's citadel of learning had been in disarray as the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has been on a protracted strike for the last three months with the government over the government's refusal to honor the various agreements reached with the Academic Union. As the strike lingers, the politicians are not even worried about the plight of the sit-at-home students as most of them are paying hundreds millions of naira to purchase the expression of interest form. This action by politicians has created a haze among young Nigerians, as education in the world's largest black race has been regarded as a scram by the majority of its youths. The electoral clause eighty-four in the recent Constitution amendment is another big infraction to the already confusing situation that is trailing the nascent democracy. The Legislative Arm claimed that the Constitution empowers Parliament to make the laws and so it is the only body to amend the laws, while the executive Arm, though the office of the Ministry of Justice and Antoney general of the country, felt the section of the amended clause is discrimination against some Nigerians, especially the political appointees. This twist in the political arena is awaiting the Apex court's interpretation of section 84, which a lower court had already stroked out. The infraction by the court has even thrown more drama into the electoral process as government appointees are still contemplating whether to resign their position before the INEC deadlines or keep the position pending the Supreme Court ruling. Whatever the outcome of the court judgments, the result would be a factor that might affect any of the political appointees that will eventually fly the APC flag bearer. The country is bleeding, insecurity is raven in every region of the country as Nigerians are killed by bandits, unknown gunmen, terrorists, and kidnappers. while the killing space gets wider, they are opinions rhetoric that is calling for the shifting of the election. Many political analysts and some Elders state men belived ,the current space of insecurity in the land couple with a weaker national Constitution that is currently in-used would not guarantee a fair and free elections hence they would be need to install intrime leadership for the next six months which would provide ample window of time to entrenched a new federal Constitution that will be a template for the nation existence. As the discussion continues, Nigerians are still pulsed what would become of their faith come 2023. As of last count, 21 apirants from the ruling APC had picked the Presidential form while the main opposition party PDP have 15 Apirants as two the Aspirants were disqualify by the screening Committee. How the major political party will managed their primaries is a concern as the quest for zoning the presidency between North and South would play a decisive role among these big parties. In the ruling party, all eyes will be on the national leader of the party Bola Ahmed Tinubu as he square it up with his esthwhile political son and 19 others governors and the Party big weights who have so far joined the race.
The intrigues is sure as the most populous black race go in her election, weather the people will take this opportunity to makes a turn round in their democracies is something that can not been explains here .so far the race is a horse race and it is the fastest that will take it,Politics in Nigeria is a perfect business as they is no others venture the old elites would have lunch them into, the political business has been the only surving one for the elites since the return to civilian rule in 1999. A country where eventually every others venture had been crippled, it is no surprise, the current challenges of insecurity woes must has been caused by idle minds hopeless youths who next change of meal is just like a divine miracle.no good thing should be expected from a nation where her leaders sacrifice values and morals to personal aggridiament of materialism, The Africa nations maybe waiting and expecting a turn around from this big brother Nigeria, but it is not possible, because their leaders are not consciously purified to give the people the desire changes. When a real general with all paraffin of integrity can not even profound skill solution with his experiences going to the end of his administration, it will be a miracle if a mere politician without experience does.
