History have many faces.sometimes,it comes as a reoccurring events, sometime,it becomes also the template where future events take place. Whichever way,history is created, the importance thing is that, they is always lessons to be learned.
For those who allowed negative history to happen again might not has learned from the impact or they are not fully in line of it's chaos, but for the oppressed,the vengeance for revenge sound sweet when pressing a for such events.
When the Boko Haram was created during 2007 at the early years of the democracy depensation, the actors and sponsors never foreseen the dangers ahead.just like Ipob, they were regionists who think,the monster would be a conduits to draw political sympathy to their regions.They were all kind of political atities between the ruling party and the opposition members then,which person like me believed, led to the distraction at the time the center government should have weighed the big Hammer on the terriorists.
The Southeast region of Nigeria is known for its peaceful nature, apart from the burning activities of it businesses, it is a region where culture and humanity is always at the top of it's heights.
Men are trained to learn trades where they cannot make it to higher education and ladies are prepared and groomed to be married to successful businessmen who can throw around any amount as a marriage ceremony. Life in the region is safe and the wanton killings and unrest experiencing now was something very far from the region.
The recent unrest in the region is not coming at a surprise to many of us, the gradual process started during the presidency of Ebere Jonathan led by the Maxi Ralph Owazike who was the leader of the Movement for the Sovereign State of Biafara (MOSOB).
As peaceful as the progression was then, the MOSSOB members were even allowed to demonstrate in Abuja as the government of GEJ then never seen any wrong with the Biafara agitators.
But since that era, same can not be said of the agitators again as the non violence movement as envisaged by Maxi Owazike had metamorphosed into another form of Sepratistism.
This may not been far from the new ideologies as transform by the new leadership under Maxi Nmandi Kanu with the new movement called Indigenous people of Biafara (IPOB).
The creation of IPOB by Maxi Nmandi Kanu and makes popular by this government cannot be separated from it's own actions and political policies of the government towards the region of South east with all honesty by my view.
However so far, the government had ups its actions since then by rolling out development projects couple with various vitals policies to pacified the region which some of the youths have refused to acknowledge.
For example, the second niger bridge, and the deepening of the south eastern port of calabar to bring maritime service closer to region is one of such deliberate policy of these government among others.
While,am not holding brief for the government, it is very clear, the government of Mohammandu Buhari,although with a kind of his non tolerance posture toward the south easterners have out performance any of the civilian President since 1999 in provisions of infrastructures to the region.
The South East elders should do all it can to avoid the situation of the North East.now that the identity of the unknown gun men is now revealed, let the elders persuade the youths to laid down their arms.
The politics of unknown gunmen should be disregarded now and let peace return to the region. The recent claims by IPOB to kills more of the law makers from Anmanbra state shown that Ipob has been behind some of the killings in the region and playing to the gallery of any kind by the region leaders is like keeping the bad days ahead.
The South east region cannot afford the mistakes of the North east, the elders must come out and speak with the youths, like Boko Haram, where the some of the people thought, it could be used as political voice but turned out to be something else, the elders and youths of the region can not withstand such economic damages as seen in some parts of North east if the violence is not cutails now.
The Ipob most be trekking in wrong road , and it is the duty of every man who love the South East region to speak out.when all the game will be up, it may end up consuming even the righteous.
