Former Senate President, Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, has congratulated the Governor of Yobe State on his selection as the recipient of the Good Governance Award at the 2026 Vanguard Personality of the Year Awards.

In a statement issued on Friday, Lawan described the honour as a clear validation of the governor’s commitment to transforming the state and contributing meaningfully to Nigeria’s political development.

He noted that the award reflects a leadership style anchored on strategic action, inclusiveness, and a focus on delivering tangible results for the people. According to him, the administration has consistently prioritized citizens’ welfare above political distractions.

Lawan commended the governor’s efforts in key sectors, including the revitalization of education in the post-insurgency period, agricultural development, and improved healthcare delivery, particularly for vulnerable populations.

“The recognition by Vanguard Newspapers affirms what the people of Yobe State have long appreciated—an administration driven by service, compassion, and commitment to progress,” he said.

He added that the award serves as an encouragement for the governor to sustain efforts in delivering democratic dividends and strengthening development initiatives across the state.
