The delegation was in Jigawa to commence the nationwide data verification exercise forming part of the broader review of the country’s revenue-sharing formula.
Describing the exercise as both timely and necessary, the governor said changing socio-economic realities across Nigeria made a fresh assessment unavoidable.
“We are confident that there will be fairness in this exercise. We believe everybody will be treated fairly according to the standards expected,” Namadi said.
He noted that previous attempts to review the revenue allocation formula had failed to produce lasting outcomes, but said the determination shown by the current leadership of the Commission offered renewed hope.
“The bold attempt by the Commission to review the revenue allocation formula is something to be appreciated because several attempts were made in the past without success,” he said.
“But with the determination demonstrated by the current leadership, we are optimistic that this exercise will succeed, Insha’Allah.”
The governor also pledged the Jigawa State Government’s full cooperation throughout the exercise.
Earlier, Barrister Akpan said the nationwide verification exercise was designed to ensure that data used for revenue allocation accurately reflects present-day realities across the federation
He said demographic changes, expanding infrastructure and evolving development indicators across states made periodic reviews essential to achieving fairness in the distribution of national resources.Akpan added that the exercise would be conducted with professionalism, transparency and objectivity in line with established standards.
