Her appointment fills the vacancy created by the resignation of former board member Abdulrazak Namdas, who stepped down to pursue his governorship ambition in Adamawa State.
During plenary, Senate President Godswill Akpabio read the President’s request and referred it to the Senate Committee on NDDC for screening and further legislative action.
Following the committee’s consideration and submission of its report, the Senate approved Dr Marwa’s nomination, clearing the way for her inauguration as a member of the commission’s governing board.
The confirmation is expected to reinforce the NDDC’s leadership structure as the commission continues to implement development programmes, infrastructure projects and economic empowerment initiatives across the Niger Delta region.
Observers and stakeholders have expressed confidence that Dr Marwa’s experience and leadership capabilities will contribute to the commission’s efforts to promote sustainable development and improve the living conditions of communities within the oil-rich region. :::
