Bauchi Dissolves Wikki Tourists Management After NPFL Relegation By Abdullahi Idris, Bauchi
Bauchi: The Bauchi State Government has dissolved the management committee of Wikki Tourists Football Club following the team's relegation from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) to the Nigeria National League (NNL) at the end of the 2025/2026 season.
Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed approved the dissolution with immediate effect after what the government described as a comprehensive review of the club's disappointing campaign and the various interventions made to preserve its top-flight status.
The government said the decision was aimed at repositioning the club, restoring public confidence in its administration and laying the groundwork for an immediate return to the NPFL.
According to a statement, the state government provided substantial financial and administrative support to the club throughout the season in a bid to improve its performance.
As the relegation battle intensified, the government also constituted a rescue team during the closing stages of the campaign to complement the efforts of the management committee and help secure the club's survival in the elite division.
Despite those interventions, Wikki Tourists failed to retain their NPFL status and were relegated to the Nigeria National League.
To oversee the club's restructuring, Governor Mohammed approved the appointment of former Bauchi State Director of Sports, Alhaji Haruna Bako, as Interim Sole Administrator pending the constitution of a substantive management board.
The interim administrator is expected to take immediate charge of the club's affairs, supervise the handover of all assets, records, operations and liabilities, and begin implementing measures to strengthen the team ahead of the forthcoming Nigeria National League season.
