The visit brought together members of the panel, led by the Chairman, Emeritus Professor Mohammed Abdulaziz, former Vice-Chancellor of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, and the management of the college for a comprehensive engagement on the institution's operations, challenges and prospects.

The panel was received by the Provost of the college, Professor Sadiya Mohammed, who welcomed the delegation to her office and provided an opportunity for an introductory and informative engagement with the members.

The visitation exercise, according to the chairman, is not merely a routine administrative assignment but a deliberate intervention aimed at strengthening the foundation of education and ensuring that tertiary institutions in Bauchi State remain capable of responding to the changing needs of students, lecturers and society.

Professor Abdulaziz explained that the presence of the panel at Aminu Saleh College of Education was guided by the broader interest of humanity and the need to promote better and more sustainable educational initiatives.

He said Governor Bala Mohammed considered the improvement of education standards a critical component of the state's development agenda and had therefore entrusted the panel with the responsibility of examining the conditions and operations of tertiary institutions and proposing practical measures for improvement.

According to him, the panel is expected to submit a comprehensive report capable of helping government address critical issues affecting tertiary education, including students' welfare, staff welfare, infrastructure, teaching and learning facilities and the general academic environment.

The chairman urged members of the panel to discharge their responsibilities with objectivity, diligence and a strong sense of responsibility, stressing that the ultimate objective was to contribute to the emergence of stronger and more functional institutions across Bauchi State.

He noted that sustainable development in education could not be achieved without creating an environment where lecturers are adequately supported, students have access to essential learning facilities and institutions possess the infrastructure required to deliver quality education.

The engagement therefore provided an opportunity for the panel to interact with the college authorities and gain first-hand insight into the realities confronting the institution, as well as the areas where government intervention could produce lasting improvements.

Responding, the Provost of Aminu Saleh College of Education, Professor Sadiya Mohammed, expressed appreciation to the visiting panel for the engagement and commended Governor Bala Mohammed for what she described as his continued support for the development and strengthening of the college.

Professor Sadiya welcomed the panel to Azare and assured the delegation of the cooperation and support of the college management throughout the duration of the assignment.

She expressed confidence that the visitation exercise would contribute positively to the advancement of the institution and provide an opportunity for important issues affecting its growth and development to receive appropriate attention.

Royal endorsement for education review

As part of its activities in Azare, the Visitation Panel also paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Katagum, His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr.) Umar Kabir Umar, to seek royal blessings and prayers for the success of its assignment.

The traditional ruler welcomed the delegation and commended the initiative, offering prayers for the successful completion of the exercise.

The Emir also praised the administration of Governor Bala Mohammed for what he described as its efforts toward promoting positive transformation, peace and unity across Bauchi State.

He equally commended the leadership of Professor Sadiya Mohammed at Aminu Saleh College of Education, Azare, while expressing support for initiatives aimed at improving the quality and sustainability of education in the state.

The royal engagement underscored the importance of collaboration between government, educational institutions and traditional institutions in building an education system capable of serving present and future generations.

Grassroots leadership joins the conversation

The panel also paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of Katagum Local Government Area, where it was received by the council leadership.

During the visit, the panel commended the local government chairman for efforts aimed at bringing development closer to the people at the grassroots.

The engagement provided another opportunity to emphasise the connection between quality education, local development and effective governance, particularly in communities where tertiary institutions serve as major centres of learning, employment and social development.

The visitation exercise at Aminu Saleh College of Education, Azare, therefore goes beyond inspection. It represents an opportunity to take a closer look at the institution's achievements, identify its constraints and develop a practical roadmap for strengthening its future.

For the students, lecturers and wider Azare community, the expectation is that the panel's findings will translate into tangible improvements in infrastructure, academic delivery, staff and student welfare and the overall learning environment.

For Bauchi State, the exercise reinforces the growing recognition that sustainable development cannot be separated from sustainable education—and that the quality of institutions entrusted with training the next generation will ultimately shape the quality of the state's future.
