Betara’s Record of Service Takes Centre Stage as 2027 Politics Gathers Momentum By Okwo Romeon

As political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections gather momentum in Borno State, supporters of Rt. Hon. Muktar Betara Aliyu, OON, have increasingly pointed to his record of public service as the strongest argument for his continued political relevance.

Across Biu, Bayo, Kwaya Kusar and Shani, his supporters say Betara’s years of representation have left a visible imprint on communities and strengthened his relationship with constituents.

For them, the real test of political leadership is not the volume of campaign rhetoric but the ability to translate public office into tangible benefits for the people.

They argue that competence, experience, accessibility and a demonstrable commitment to community development should remain central to the assessment of any political leader.

“His achievements alone are enough to campaign for him,” supporters of the federal lawmaker have maintained, insisting that his record speaks louder than political slogans.

The sentiment comes at a time when political allegiances are shifting across the country as politicians and supporters position themselves ahead of the 2027 elections. In such an environment, political observers say candidates are likely to face increasing scrutiny over their records, policy positions and previous contributions to their constituencies.

Betara’s supporters believe his political strength lies largely in what they describe as sustained engagement with the people. They point to interventions and community-oriented initiatives across the constituency as reasons for the goodwill he continues to enjoy among sections of his constituents.

They also acknowledge that political preferences are not permanent. In a democracy, voters and supporters have the right to change their political allegiance based on their assessment of candidates and prevailing circumstances.

But, according to Betara’s admirers, political choices should ultimately be informed by performance, character, competence and the capacity to address the concerns of ordinary citizens.

For the people of Biu, Bayo, Kwaya Kusar and Shani, his supporters contend, Betara’s political story is therefore best understood through the impact they associate with his years of representation.

As the 2027 political season gradually takes shape, the question for every aspirant will increasingly be whether past performance can translate into renewed public confidence.

For Betara’s supporters, they already have an answer.

His record, they say, is his campaign — and his achievements speak for themselves.
