DEPUTY SENATE PRESIDENT LEADS SENATORS TO GUMEL, MOURNS LATE EMIR

Yar’Adua, Other Senate Committee Chairmen Join Condolence Visit  Congratulates New Emir

GUMEL, JIGAWA — The Deputy President of the Senate has led a high-powered delegation of senators and other eminent personalities to Gumel Emirate, Jigawa State, on a condolence visit following the death of the revered Emir, His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr.) Ahmed Muhammad Sani II, CON.

The delegation conveyed heartfelt condolences to the people and Government of Jigawa State over the passing of the monarch, who reigned for 45 years and devoted his life to the service of Allah SWT, his people and humanity.

The Deputy Senate President also congratulated the newly appointed 17th Emir of Gumel, His Royal Highness, Dr Lawan Ahmed Muhammad Sani, on his ascension to the throne of his forefathers.

He prayed that Allah SWT would grant the new Emir wisdom, good health and strength to discharge the responsibilities of the revered traditional institution, while making his reign a period of peace, unity, progress and prosperity for Gumel Emirate and Jigawa State.

The delegation included the Chairman, Northern Senators Forum and Senate Committee on Army, Senator Abdulaziz Yar’Adua; Chairman, Senate Committee on Northwest Development Commission, Senator Babangida Hussaini (Walin Kazaure); Chairman, Senate Committee on Police Affairs, Senator Ahmad Abdulhamid Malam-Madori; and Chairman, Senate Committee on Tourism, Senator Pam Mwadkon Dachungyang.

Others were Chairman, Senate Committee on Science and Technology, Senator Aminu Iya Abbas, and Chairman, Senate Committee on Regional Development, Senator Reverend Amos Yohanna, alongside traditional rulers, state legislators and other political leaders.

The delegation further included Alhaji Aminu Babba Dan Agundi (Sarkin Dawaki Mai Tuta); Kano State House of Assembly members representing Kunchi/Tsanyawa, Sumaila and Albasu constituencies, Hon. Garba Ya’u Gwarmai, Hon. Hamza Zubairu Masu and Hon. Musa Tahir Haruna, respectively, as well as APC Vice Chairman, Kano State, Hon. Salisu Maje Ahmed Gwangwazo, among others.

The Deputy Senate President prayed Allah SWT to forgive the late Emir's shortcomings, accept his good deeds and grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus.
