Why Vessels Are Waiting at Anchorage
According to NPA Harbour Master, vessels are waiting due to:
1. Berth occupancy at TICT and APM Terminals
2. Delay in cargo evacuation by trucks on Apapa-Oshodi expressway
3. Weekend Customs documentation delays
4. High tide restriction for bulk carriers at Apapa channel
NPA assured that all 18 vessels will berth within 24-48 hours as terminals clear backlog.
NPA Berthing Advice for Agents
The NPA advised shipping agents and freight forwarders to ensure all port charges, pilotage and mooring fees are paid in advance to avoid further delays.
All vessels at anchorage are to maintain VHF Channel 14 and 16 and keep main engine ready for pilot boarding.
