DOLLY PARTON WINS NASHVILLE AIRPORT HONOUR — BOARD VOTES 6–0 TO BEGIN RENAMING PROCESS

On September 11, the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority Board voted unanimously, 6–0, to begin the process of renaming Nashville International Airport (BNA) in honour of Dolly Parton.

The Tennessee governor and Nashville airport had originally announced their intention to honour Parton on August 28, shortly after her death.

  1. The airport's BNA three-letter code is expected to remain unchanged, preserving its connection to Berry Field/Nashville's aviation history.

The exact final wording of the new airport name is still being worked out. “Dolly Parton International Airport” has been widely proposed/reported, but the formal naming process is not yet complete.

The process could take more than a year, and officials still have to work through the details with Parton's estate and other relevant authorities.
