"PDP Chieftain: NDC Ticket Has Altered Political Equation, Offers Fresh Choice to Nigerians"
The emergence of Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as the presidential and vice-presidential candidates of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) will significantly alter the political equation ahead of the 2027 presidential election, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Engr. Anselm Ijebor, has declared.
Ijebor, who spoke with journalists in Abuja on Thursday, said Obi’s emergence had injected “fresh energy and fresh ideas” into Nigeria’s political landscape, opening what he described as a new chapter in the country’s democratic journey.

According to him, the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket offers Nigerians another political platform to consider as the 2027 contest gathers momentum, particularly on issues of good governance, inclusive leadership, national development and accountability.
The PDP chieftain said Obi’s entry into the presidential race, with a message centred on inclusive leadership, good governance, development and renewed commitment to Nigerians, had generated considerable discussion across political circles.
He said the 2027 election should provide voters with an opportunity to carefully assess the records, experience, competence, character and vision of all candidates seeking their mandate.

“For the NDC and its growing supporters, Obi represents more than just another name on the presidential ballot. His emergence is being projected as a new political option capable of challenging established narratives and broadening the choice available to voters across Nigeria,” Ijebor said.»He further claimed that political realignments and grassroots engagements were intensifying across the country as political parties prepare for the 2027 contest.
According to him, the Obi-Kwankwaso candidacy is already “changing the conversation and political narrative” ahead of the election.
“
I believe Obi’s NDC candidacy has introduced a fresh political proposition and placed the political landscape firmly within the emerging 2027 political calculations in Nigeria,” he said.Ijebor maintained that the political contest ahead would be shaped increasingly by the issues, ideas and choices presented to the electorate.
“As the race gradually gathers momentum, one thing is becoming increasingly clear: Nigeria’s 2027 political equation is no longer business as usual,” he declared.
“With Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso on the ballot, Nigerians are set to witness a contest where new ideas, fresh perspectives and the power of the electorate will take centre stage.
“2027 is coming. Nigerians are watching. The political narrative will change,” Ijebor said.
